Do you have a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) on your gift list this holiday season?
Maybe the SAHM in your life is a bit like me. It’s sometimes hard for us SAHMs to take care of ourselves, because we’re always taking care of someone else. We put ourselves last so often.
That’s why I’ve tried to pick items that are a little outside the box for this gift guide for SAHMs. You’ll see things that are practical, but still pamper the SAHM in your life. These are all things that I love using in my every day life, things that make my life as a SAHM that much better. 🙂
Gift Guide for SAHMs
SAHMs are rarely moms who just stay at home, #amiright? Running errands, hauling kids to activities…a cute travel mug is a staple for moms who want (need) to haul their coffee or tea along as they take care of all the things. And having a cute one makes running around like crazy a little easier.
This is a great idea for moms who like who like hot tea or hot cocoa, because it keeps water hot and at the ready, without having to worry about little hands getting burned by touching a hot stove top. Also, it’s a great item to have around for when you’re hosting friends.
Running around the house all day can be hard on the feet. Give her some cozy slippers to pad around in – bonus points if they have soles, just in case she needs to wear them out of the house for some reason (AHEM…not speaking from experience here at all, OF COURSE). (WAIT. Yes I am. I’m becoming the mom who wears her slippers to the store. DO NOT JUDGE ME. 😉 )
Similar to the slippers, except these can legally leave the house on her feet without judgement. 😉 Smartwool socks are hands down my fave. (Get as close to 100% wool as you can – the more wool, the warmer the socks.)
Listen. ANY SAHM MOM WILL TELL YOU – shopping for your own clothing with children in tow is pretty much the worst experience on the planet. Stitch Fix has been my saving grace since becoming a mom. A personal shopper picks out cute, fashionable clothes and ships them straight to my house, where I can try them on in the privacy of my own bedroom and then easily return whatever I don’t love? YES, PLEASE.
There’s a lot to be said for having a purse that will hold up to the demands of being a SAHM. She’ll want something that will hold a lot of stuff, can take a LOT of wear, look cute, and (if you’re like me), last forever, because purse shopping is the PITS. A nice, quality, timeless leather bag totally fits the bill.
For moms that enjoy reading but seldom find the time for it, a gift card for an audiobook (via Audible) can be just the ticket. There are loads of books in tons of genres so she can pick whichever one floats her boat, and she can download it straight to her phone or tablet so it’s super easy to listen to. Sometimes it’s great to have a good audiobook to turn on while bustling around the house or running errands in the car.
Give her a place to write down all her thoughts and notes and lists – buy her a traveler’s notebook. It can serve as a planner, calendar, bill tracker…she’ll love having a place to track all of the things in her life. Want more info on traveler’s notebooks? Check out this post.
I got my Kindle as a birthday gift a year ago, and I did NOT expect to love it as much as I do. It’s fantastic. Sure, you can use the free Kindle app on your smartphone or tablet instead of using a separate device. I did that for a while. Here’s the thing with using the app: it’s very easy to get distracted while you’re reading. You remember something you need to look up online, so you stop reading and click over to the internet, and the next thing you know it’s been 45 minutes and you’ve gotten zero reading done. No bueno. If the SAHM mom in your life loves e-books, she’ll love a Kindle.
So, there you have it! My gift guide for SAHMs. What gifts would the SAHM in your life love?
