A few years ago I was at a craft show and bought a foaming hand soap from a mom who makes natural products for the home. I LOVED it, so I looked up how to make it and, you guys. It’s ridiculously easy. I’ve been making it for our home ever since. It literally has two ingredients.
This soap is super effective for cleaning dirty hands, and trust me, it’s been put to the test since my kids play outside for hours a day, and Mr. Cozy House farms/ranches/mechanics every day. This soap has definitely earned it’s spot at the sink.
In the past, I used to make lots of DIY cleaners and products for our home. I got frustrated and quit for a couple of reasons. Either the products didn’t perform as well as they needed to, or the ingredients ended up costing way too much for my budget. This one is super simple, super effective, and super cheap.

The How To:
Add ¼ cup castile soap to the dispenser. If you want to add essential oils for scent, drop in around ten drops of the essential oil of your choice. I typically like orange, lavender, or tea tree, depending on my mood. You can experiment and add more or less oil, depending on your preference.
Fill the rest of the pump with water and voila! Foaming hand soap that smells really good and doesn’t have any weird ingredients in it.
My New Secret Soap Making Weapon
In my last order from Grove Collaborative, I received a complimentary bottle of their lavender castile soap. I used it to make my last batch of soap and liked it a LOT, so I’ll probably use that often in the future. By using it you save the step of dropping in oils but still have scented soap, which is fabulous. Plus, the ingredients used in this soap are wonderful. (I believe Dr. Bronners makes scented castile soaps as well, but I’ve only tried their unscented version.)
This soap literally takes like one minute to make. It’s a really simple, effective, frugal soap. Love it!
