When I grow up, I want to be a podcaster. I love podcasts so much. They just make me happy.
But alas, until then, I’m satisfying my longings by listening to some really awesome podcasts. I’m personally drawn to podcasts where the hosts chat with each other about life. I’m not huge on “interview” type podcasts. But really, as long as the podcasters make me laugh, it’s all good.
Here’s the thing about podcasts. There’s one for every topic in the whole world. Parenting, music, books, pop culture, faith, science, history, crafting, the MAFIA…whatever floats your boat, there is a podcast out there to entertain and educate you.
Sometimes I need to listen to one that will offer some encouragement for moms. Sometimes I want to get caught up on current events, or learn about a specific event in history. We even use a podcast for our weekly women’s Bible study.
Most of the time though, I just want to listen to a podcast that is fun to listen to and makes me laugh. So today I’m sharing five awesome podcasts that make me smile.
Mom Struggling Well
MY FAVORITE. Emily Thomas is hilarious and I relate to her on sooooooooo many levels. She’s real. She’s authentic. She has awesome hair. She’s pretty much my hero.
The Big Boo Cast
Ummm, I cannot help but smile as I listen to Big Mama (Melanie Shankle) and BooMama (Sophie Hudson….I LOVE HER BOOKS!!) discuss life in their big old Southern accents. Completely delightful.
The Homeschool Sisters
These two friends (they’re not really sisters, which I’ll confess took me a while to figure out) discuss all things homeschool-related, although I’m pretty sure I’d still enjoy it even if we weren’t homeschooling. They’re entertaining and encouraging and just plain fun.
Ok. I feel like I know a few things about pop culture. It turns out I KNOW NOTHING. The hosts of this show are pop culture geniuses and I’m honored to learn from them. Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden are fantastically charismatic together. It’s beyond fun to listen to if you care at all about pop culture-ish things.
Wait Wait….Don’t Tell Me
This one isn’t TECHNICALLY a podcast since it’s broadcasted on NPR stations. But since I listen to it as a podcast, I’m totally counting it. This is a current events quiz-style news show. The host/celebrity guests are awesome, the stories entertaining, and I always, always want it to last longer than an hour.
