We have been faithful subscribers to Amazon Prime for years. I lovelovelove having free Prime shipping, which is worth every cent to us since we live in the middle of nowhere. After being members for a while, I’ve learned that there are many benefits to having an Amazon Prime account other than just getting free two-day shipping. Today I’m sharing our tips for homeschooling with Amazon Prime Video.

Why I Love Amazon Prime Video for Homeschooling
First off, I have to admit that I love Amazon Prime Video because it has a passcode option. In order to watch ANYTHING, the kids have to have a parent enter the passcode. This is great for us because OCCASIONALLY I will be working on something and lose track of time while the kids are watching a show; having to enter a passcode before another episode begins means they aren’t able to binge watch anything, or switch to a different show without mommy knowing.
My kids love documentaries, so we will often just search for one on whatever topic they’re interested in at the moment. There are a few shows that we watch entire seasons of. We don’t watch tv every day; I tend to fill in with a show or two if we need a change in our daily routine, or to supplement a certain subject.
And sometimes, I just need something for them to watch so I can have a break. 😉
We also have Netflix at our house, and I can tell you we use Amazon Prime for homeschooling WAY more than we use Netflix. There just seem to be more educational shows with Prime, and they are really easy to find. It seems like I have to really hunt for kids educational programs on Netflix. Just my opinion.
If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member, you can try it out with a 30-day free trail to see if it’s a good fit for your family.
